    1. Ways in which Jesus fulfilled Old Testament prophecies concerning the Messiah. (8mks)
      • Nathan’s prophecy that God will raise up an heir from David’s lineage was fulfilled when an angel was sent to Mary who was engaged to Joseph a descendant of David.
      • Nathan’s prophecy that the messiah will save the people was fulfilled when Jesus died on the cross to deliver humanity from sins
      • Isaiah’s prophecy that the messiah will be born of a virgin was fulfilled when angel was sent to Mary who was a virgin
      • Isaiah’s prophecy that the messiah will be known by supernatural titles e.g. prince of peace was fulfilled when Jesus stressed on promoting peace during his missions
      • Micah’s prophecy that the messiah shall be born in Bethlehem was fulfilled when Jesus was born in Bethlehem where they had gone for a census.
      • Micah’s prophecy that the messiah shall be born of a woman was fulfilled when Jesus was born by Virgin Mary.
      • Jeremiah’s prophecy that the messiah shall deal/rule wisely was fulfilled as he taught with wisdom
      • The psalmist prophecy that the messiah shall be betrayed by a close friend was fulfilled when Jesus was betrayed by Judas one of his disciple
      • Isaiah’s prophecy that the messiah will be a suffering servant was fulfilled during the passion and death of Jesus.

    2. Dedication of Jesus at the Temple. Luke 2:21-40 (6mks)
      • When the time came for Mary’s purification according to the Law of Moses, Mary and Joseph went to Jerusalem.
      • They took Jesus to present Jesus to the Lord. They were to offer a sacrifice according to what is said in the Law of Moses, they were to offer a pair of turtledoves and two young pigeons.
      • There was a man in Jerusalem named Simeon, he was righteous and devout man and looked for the consolation of Israel.
      • The Holy Spirit was upon him, and had revealed to him that he couldn’t die before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.
      • He was inspired by the spirit and came to the temple, when the parents brought in Jesus for dedication, he took him up in his arms. He blessed God saying that he was ready to die now that he had seen God’s salvation which God had prepare for all people.
      • He said that Jesus would be a light for revelation to the Gentiles, the child would be alight for glory to the people of Israel.
      • His parents marveled at what Simeon said, Simeon blessed them.
      • He said that the child was set for the fall and rising of many in Israel, he was set for a sign that is spoken against that thoughts out of many hearts may be revealed,.
      • There was a prophetess named Anna, who was of great age and had only had her husband seven years, and was a widow till she was 84 and she has never departed from the temple and used to worship God fasting and praying night and day,
      • She came up at that very hour, she gave thanks to God and she spoke of the child as one who would redeem Jerusalem.
      • After they had performed everything according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.

    3. Ways through which parents can develop the spiritual life of their children. (6mks)
      • Christians parents should take their children to church/Sunday/Sabbath school
      • They should teach their children’s the word of God
      • They should pray with them / for them
      • They should expose them to Christian programmes/movies
      • They should allow /encourage them to participate in church activities
      • They should avail to them the Bible and other Christian literature for reading
      • Parents should discipline their children
      • They should be role model / lead exemplary lives
      • They should train them to sing/dance/play music/songs of praise.

    1. Healing of the Gerasene demonic in Luke 8:26-39. (8mks)
      • Jesus and his disciples arrived at the country of Gerasene which is opposite Galilee.
      • As he stepped out of the boat on land, a man in the city who had demons met his and he wore no cloths nor lived in a house but among the tombs.
      • When he saw Jesus he cried out and fell down before him and said what you have to do with me.
      • He beseeched Jesus not to torment him as he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man.
      • Jesus asked him what his name is, the man replied Legion for many demons had entered him.
      • The demons asked Jesus not to command them depart into the abyss.
      • There was a large herd of swine feeding there on the hillside the demons begged Jesus to let them enter the swine.
      • The demons came out of the man and entered the swine. The herd rushed down the steep bank into lake and was drowned.
      • When the herdsmen saw what had happened, they fled and told it in the city and in the country, people went out to see what had happened.
      • They came to Jesus and found the man from whom the demons had gone sitting at his feet clothed and in his right mind, they were afraid.
      • Those who had seen it told them how he had been possessed with demons was healed, all the people of the surrounding country of the Gerasenes asked Jesus to depart from them, and they were seized with great fear.
      • Jesus got into the boat and returned, the man from whom the demons had gone begged that he might be with him but he sent him away.
      • Jesus told him to return to his home and declare how much God had done for him. The man went away proclaiming throughout the whole city how much Jesus had done for him.

    2. Characteristics of a committed followers of Jesus. (5mks)
      • The one who understand the law and obeys it.
      • Understands that a neighbor is anybody who requires help regardless of their social status.
      • Who uses their resources selflessly to help the needy
      • Who is not restricted by cultural and religious practices in responding to a needy situation
      • One who is compassionate, kind and generous
      • One who shows solidarity with the suffering.

      • Jesus has power over demons
      • Jesus values human life more than animal life
      • Jesus came to destroy Satan’s kingdom

      • The land of a rich man brought forth plentifully
      • He wondered what he would do for he had nowhere to store his crops
      • He told himself that he would pull down his barns and build larger ones
      • He would then store all his grains and goods
      • He would then tell his soul that it has ample goods laid up for many years hence it should rest, eat , drink and be merry
      • God called him a fool
      • He told him his soul was required that night
      • He was asked who would be the owner of his goods

    2. Prayer on mount Olive. Luke 22:39-46. (7mks)
      • Jesus went to the Mount of Olives as his custom was.
      • His disciples followed him
      • When they arrived he told them to pray so that they don’t enter into temptation
      • He withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, he knelt down and prayed.
      • He told his father to remove he cup from him if he was willing nevertheless his will be done.
      • When he rose from prayer he went to the disciples’ found them sleeping for sorrow.
      • Jesus asked them why they were asleep.
      • He told them to rise and pray so that they don’t enter into temptation

    3. Significance of the resurrection and ascension of Jesus to daily Christian’s life. (7mks)
      • Jesus Christ conquered death through resurrection, proving that he is the son of God.
      • Through the resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ, Christians received the Holy Spirit the same way the disciples received him
      • It is a reassurance and proof that Jesus Christ defeated Satan and has power over death
      • It has made Christians to adopt a new understanding of Jesus messianic mission
      • Christians believe that like Jesus Christ those who obey God will resurrect during the second coming of Christ. Thus gives them hope for eternal life
      • Christians are left with a promise of forgiveness of sins if they repent

      • They are chosen to proclaim the wonderful works of God to the world
      • They have a duty/responsibility to spread the good news, God called them to share the gospel with others.
      • Once they weren’t people but God had made them hi own people
      • They have received mercies from God
      • They were called from darkness to light/their lives had been transformed and should not be demonstrated by evil

      • Male/female relationship are based on biblical teachings, both old and new testament
      • Both male and female are created as equal human beings and should relate as equals
      • Both men and women are created in God’s image and likeness
      • Men and women are created by God and should procreate or fulfill God’s command to multiply
      • Men and women relate freely but are expected to uphold the virtues of respect and chastity
      • The union of male and female relationship is consummated in marriage
      • Jesus taught that relationship should be guide by high levels of morality
      • Male and female complement each other
      • Young people are encouraged to relate freely and established healthy relationships
      • Male/female relationship should be guided by virtues of love, faithfulness, humility, submission, respect and tolerance.

      • Through education programmes for youth
      • Writing and publishing materials that the youth can read
      • Making videos and films that the youth can watch and learn from
      • Organizing discussions for the youth in which topical issues can be discussed and debated

      • Through preaching in which messages of respect are given on love, chastity and how people should relate
      • Organizing programmes for youth in church and schools where men and women can mix freely
      • Joint participation of young men and women in church activities such as Sunday school and choir.

    1. Differences between traditional African and Christian concept of family. (7mks)
      • Children are a must in traditional African families whereas in Christianity a family is still complete even without children
      • Families in traditional African communities are mainly polygamous /extended while in Christian understanding a family is monogamous
      • In traditional African communities the family is the focus of existence for the living, living dead and the yet to be born members whereas from the Christian point of view family is for parents and children’s
      • The wife belong to the clan in traditional African communities whereas in Christianity family is the union of a husband and wife
      • Members of the family in traditional African communities are related to each other by birth, marriage and adoption unlike in Christian families where members belong to the nuclear family only
      • In traditional African communities divorce is allowed under certain conditions whereas in Christianity divorce /separation is not allowed under all circumstances
      • The husband is the head of the family in traditional African communities whereas Christians understand husband and wife as equal partners in the family.

      • Being positive role models for their children’s
      • Understanding their roles and responsibilities in the provision of the physical needs of the family
      • Educating children in all aspects of life.
      • Teaching and training them in religious matters so as to help them in their spiritual development.
      • Helping the children’s to understand the physical, emotional and psychological changes they go through in the process of growing up.
      • They give sex education so that the children are able to deal with strong sexual feelings at adolescence.
      • Contribute to their intellectual development by providing opportunities for children to learn.
      • Teaching morals and right behavior to the children/ be taught positive values and other virtues.
      • Teaching children social skills on how to relate with one another as brothers and sisters, among peers and among relatives.
      • Teaching children social and civil responsibilities such as helping the needy in society and taking care of the environment.

      • By being open and frank to each other so as to cultivate mutual trust
