    1. What prophet Isaiah foretold concerning the Messiah
      1. Prophet Isaiah foretold that he Messiah would be born of a virgin/ young woman
      2. He would be called Emmanuel
      3. He would be a wonderful counsellor/mighty God/everlasting father/ prince of peace
      4. The Messiah would have an everlasting kingdom
      5. He would be a ruler from the house of David
      6. He would rule with justice/righteousness /peace
      7. The messiah would be simple/ordinarily humble/nothing attractive
      8. He would be rejected/despised/ignored
      9. He would suffer for the forgiveness of the sins of many It would be the will of God for him to suffer
      10. The messiah would succeed in his work/be exalted
      11. He would be put to death/buried with the rich
      12. He would be filled with God's spirit/ anointed

    2. Events that took place when John the Baptist was born (Luke 1:57-68)
      1. The time for Elizabeth to deliver came/she gave birth to a son
      2. The relatives/neighbours came to rejoice with her
      3. On the eight day, the child was circumcised
      4. The child was to be named after his father Zechariah/Elizabeth said that the child was to be called John
      5. The people told her that none of her kindred was called by that name
      6. They made signs to Zechariah inquiring what he would have the child named
      7. Zechariah asked for a writing tablet/wrote the name John

      9. Zechariah regained his speech immediately/began to talk

    1. Reasons why Jesus was opposed by the Jewish religious leaders during his ministry.
      1. Jesus was opposed because he associated with sinners/tax collectors
      2. Jesus worked on the Sabbath/healed people on the Sabbath
      3. Jesus forgave sins which was considered as blasphemy/equated himself with God
      4. Jesus claimed that he would destroy the temple and build another one in three days
      5. The disciples of Jesus did not observe the law of fasting
      6. Jesus had become more popular than the religious leaders
      7. Jesus accused the Jewish religious leaders of hypocrisy/called them hypocrites
      8. The religious leaders did not believe that Jesus was the messiah (6x1)= 6 marks
    2. The incident in which Jesus forgave the sinful woman (Luke 7:36-50)
      • Jesus was invited for dinner into a Pharisee's house/Simon
      • When a sinful/woman who lived in the city heard that Jesus was in the pharisee's house. She came with a jar of ointment/ a labaster jar of perfume
      • The woman started weeping/wetting Jesus feet with her tears/wiping the feet with her hair/anointed the feet of Jesus with the ointment
      • Simon wondered why Jesus allowed a sinner to touch him/if Jesus was a prophet he should have known this woman was a prostitute
      • Jesus knowing his thoughts answered him by giving a parable of a creditor and two debtors.
      • One debtor owed a creditor five hundred denarii while the other owed fifty denarii
      • Both debtors were unable to pay/the creditor cancelled both debts
      • Jesus asked Simon who would love the creditor more
      • Jesus then told Simon that the sinful woman had shown a lot of love for him because her many sins had been forgiven
      • Jesus then told the woman that her faith had saved her/told her to go in peace /her sins had been forgiven
      • Those who were at the table wondered who was that that had forgiven sins.
      • Simon answered the one who was forgiven      (8 x 1) = 8 marks
    3. Lessons Christians learn from the incident in which Jesus forgave the sinful woman.
      1. Christians should not judge/condemn others.
      2. Christians should tolerate others.
      3. Christians should not think of themselves as being more righteous than others.
      4. Christian should show mercy/compassion to the needy.

      6. Christians should practice hospitality /be kind/generosity/Christians should confess their sins/forgive others

    1. The incident in which Jesus went to Mount Olives to pray (Luke 22:39-53)
      1. Jesus went with his disciples to Mount Olives to pray
      2. He told the disciples to pray that they may not enter into temptation.
      3. Jesus moved a distance away from them.
      4. He knelt down and prayed to God to take away the cup of suffering/ lhis will be done
      5. He rose from prayer /went to the disciples whom he found sleeping 
      6. He asked the disciples why they had slept/awoke them to pray 
      7. While he was still speaking a crowd of people came led by one of his disciples/Judas Iscariot drew near to kiss Jesus
      8. A disciple of Jesus struck off the ear of one of the soldiers /slaves of the high priest
      9. Jesus restored the Man's ear/stopped the violence
      10. Jesus asked the chief priests why they had come to arrest him as if he was a criminal/told them that it was their hour of darkness.(7x1)=7 marks
    2. Events that took place from the time Jesus died on the cross up to the time he was buried (Luke 23:44-56).
      1. When Jesus died, the curtain of the temple was torn into two.
      2. A centurion saw what had happened praised God/said that Jesus was an innocent man.
      3. The multitudes who witnessed the death of Jesus beat their breasts as they returned home
      4. The women who had followed Jesus form Galilee stood at a distance
      5. Joseph of Arimathea went to Pilate to ask for the body of Jesus.
      6. Joseph took the body wrapped it in a linen shroud.
      7. He laid the body in a rock-hewn tomb.
      8. The women from Galilee went to the tomb to view how the body had been buried.
      9. They went to prepare spices/ointments.
      10. There was darkness over the whole land
      11. Jesus cried in a loud voice/beath his last

      1. Through the death of Jesus, Christians are forgiven their sins
      2. Jesus is the final sacrifice for sin/Christians are not supposed to make animal sacrifices to God
      3. The death of Jesus is the greatest act that demonstrates God's love for human beings
      4. Through the death of Jesus Christians have a personal/direct relationship with God
      5. Through his death, salvation/eternal life is availed to all people
      6. The death of Jesus enables Christians to face persecution/death with courage
      7. Through the death of Jesus, Christians are encouraged to surrender to God's will
      8. Through his death, Jesus has become the mediators/everlasting high priest Christians

      1. Saint Paul taught that not more than two/three should speak in tongues in a meeting at the same time
