      3. The FRELIMO fighters were familiar with the terrain which gave them advantage over the Portuguese

      5. The support given by the OAU to the FRELIMO encouraged the nationalists to continue with the struggle
      6. FRELIMO used guerilla warfare/tactics which made it difficult for the Portuguese to defeat them
