- In a vision God promise Abraham a heir.
- Abraham then asked God for a sign.
- God showed Abraham the stars in the sky an told him to count.
- God then promised him many descendants as the stars.
- He then asked him to bring animals for sacrifice.
- Abraham then cut the animals into halves except the birds.
- He laid the cut halves in two rows in the altar.
- He guarded the sacrifices and drove among the birds of prey.
- At sunset Abraham fell into a deep sleep and a thick clud covered him.
- God gave other promises to Abraham.
- A smoking fire pot and a flaming torch appeared and passed between the sacrice signifying that Abraham had entered into a covenant with God.

- Differences between the African and Jewish practice of circumcision.
- In the Jewish community circumcision is for the male children only whereas in African practices it is for both male and female.
- Among the Jews, circumcision is performed on babies of 8 days whereas in traditional African communities, it is done during adolescence stage.
- In African community it is a test of courage whereas in Jewish community it is a sign of covenant with God/sign a faith.
- Circumcision in African communities is a communal practice whereas among the Jews only members of immediate family participate.
- In traditional African communities initiates take up responsibilities while among the Jews the initiates are two young to shoulder any responsibility.
- The Jews had only one form of initiation while the Africans have various forms.
- In the Jewish community there was no seclusion period while in Afeican communities there is seclusion period.
- In the Jewish community it was a command from God while in African community it is done in obedience to tradition and customs.

- Minor prophets – They have short /brief message/prophesied over a short duration e.g Amos.
- Canonical prophets – They are prophets whose utterances are recorded in books that bear their names.
- Non – canonical prophets – These are prophets whose oracles/utterances have been compiled by other authors e.g. Elijah
- Cultic prophets whose duties were associated with places of worship.
