DESIGN PROBLEM (40 marks)
When using a ladder, accidents are likely to occur due to poor grip and steps in addition to height limitations.
Design a ladder considering the following:

1. It should provide secure grip on the qround and when leaning on a wall.
2. It should have steps comfortable for stepping on.
3. It should have provision for extension to access varied heights.
4. It should be collapsible for ease of storage and transportation

REQUIREMENTS

1. Make a freehand sketches of two possible solution for your design.                 (6marks)
2. Select one of the design in (a) above and make a refined labeled pictorial sketch   (9marks)
3. Make a detailed sketches of the mechanism that would allow for each of the considerations 1to 4 above   (20 marks).
4. Name two methods suitable for joining the parts and state where each is used     (2marks)
5. Name a metallic material most suitable for constructing the ladder and give two reasons   for its use.   (3marks)
