      3.  It helps promote virtue of sharing what you have with others.

      5.  It enlightens on fighting social evils like bribery and corruption which lowers economic development.
      6.  It encourages people to utilize their talents thus earn a living from them.
      7. It teaches on peace,law,order and justice thus creating a conducive environment for economic growth

    2. Give SEVEN similarities between traditional African view of evil and the Biblical concept of sin. (7marks)
      1. In both cases God/Supreme being is good/not the author of sin/evil.
      2. In both sin/evil is considered/known to interfere with the smooth running of the community as intended by God/Supreme being.
      3.  In both sin/evil leads/results to alienation of human beings from God/interferes with good relationship
      4.  In both sin/evil arises from human being disobedience/greed/selfishness
      5. In both sin/evil causes a lot of suffering to human beings.

      1. Through providing guidance and counselling.
      2. Visiting the member/doing a follow up after preaching to him/her.
      3. By inviting him/her to come to church.
      4. Forgiving/accepting him/her in church.
      5. Teaching/preaching the word of God to him/her.
      6. By showing him/ her love/ by providing material/financial support.
      7. By encouraging him/her to confess/repent/seek for forgiveness.

      2. Aaron, who had been left in charge of the peoples was weak/was easily manipulated.
      3. The Israelites wanted a god they could see.
      4. The Israelites were still influenced by the Egyptian way of worship/idolatry

      1. The Israelites were to obey God’s commands.
      2. The Israelites were not to make any covenant treaties with other tribes.
      3. The Israelites were to destroy/break down the altars of their gods/smash their sacred stones/places of Idol worship.
      4. They were not to worship any other god but Yahweh.
      5. They were to keep the feast of unleavened bread.
      6. The Israelites were to dedicate all their first born male children/those of their flock to God.
      7. The Israelites were to rest on the seventh day/ Observe the Sabbath
      8. They were to offer to God the first fruits of their harvests/observe the feast of weeks. ix. All the male Israelites were to appear before the Lord God three times in a year. x. They were not to offer the blood of the sacrifices with leaven.

    3. State the importance of the Ten Commandments to Christians. (7marks)
      1. The Ten Commandments safeguards Christians against idol worship/promotes the worship of one true God.
      2. They help Christians to have the right relationship with God/warns against indulging themselves in practices that drives them away from God/not to misuse God’s name.
      3. They remind Christians to keep the Sabbath day/celebrate the Sabbath day by carrying out acts of charity/fellowshipping with one another.
      4. They promote good relationship between parents and children/others.
      5.  They help Christians to preserve/respect/protect human life.
      6.  They act as a guide to Christian living/safeguard marriages/bring stability in families.
      7. The Ten Commandments help to protect people’s property/condemns all forms of theft.

      1. He openly condemned corruption during King Ahab’s reign
      2. He ordered the killing of all prophets of Baal
      3. Jezebel wanted to kill him
      4. He condemned Ahab and his wife for taking Naboth’s vineyard.
      5. He was seen as a troublemaker
      6. He condemned king Ahab for encouraging syncretism/idolatry
      7. He prophesied the three and a half year drought.
      8. He pronounced judgement over the King and his family
      9. He challenged Idolatry/refused to abandon the worship of the true God.

    2. Explain ways in which king Jeroboam I contributed to idolatry in Israel. (7marks)
      1. He made two golden calves and placed one at Bethel and another at Dan to represent Yahweh.
      2. He ignored Jerusalem as a center of worship/set up to rival places at Dan and Bethel.
      3. He made Israelites to offer sacrifices to the golden calves representing Yahweh.
      4. He chose priests from ordinary families to serve Yahweh at the centers of worship.
      5. He instituted religious festival / feasts in the month of his choice.
      6. He burnt incense at the altar of idols thus breaking the first commandment.

      1. It would be a day of horror/disaster.
      2. The day of the Lord will be a day of disappointment to the rich/rulers.
      3. God would punish the Israelites for their disobedience/He will remember their evil deed/God’s judgement would be upon them.
      4. There would be earthquakes/the land shall tremble/floods.
      5. There will be mourning/wailing or the day of the Lord.
      6. People will not delight in their feasts/festivals.
      7. People will thirst/hunger for the word of God.
      8. People will faint in the process of searching for the word of God.
      9. Israelites would be defeated by their enemies on the Day of the Lord.
      10. There would be famine/hunger/lack on the day of the Lord.
      11. It will be a day of disappointment to the Israelites/there will be no happiness/joy. (First 7x1=7marks)
    3. State SIX ways in which Christians help the church leaders to perform their duties effectively today? (7marks)
      1. Christians support church leaders financially/give material help/basic needs. ii. They defend them against unfair criticism.
      2. By encouraging them in their work/giving them moral support.
      3. Advising/counseling them on various issues.
      4. By praying for/with them.
      5. Respecting them/participate in church activities.
      6. By practicing their teaching/obeying the word of God.
      7. By giving tithes/offering to support the church activities.
      8. By visiting the sick

      1. People gathered in the public square in Jerusalem. –
      2. Ezra the priest read the law to the people. –
      3. The people formed repentance gestures of raising / lowering their hands /mourning/waiving/weeping.
      4. People constructed makeshift tents/shelter/ to celebrate the feast of booths. –
      5. There was a national day of confession/fasting as they wore sack clothes/public recitation of past deeds of the Lord
      6. Ezra led people in prayer of confession. –
      7. The people sealed the covenant by signing an agreement under the leadership of Nehemiah the Priest. –

    1. Explain SEVEN activities carried out in the African communities to ensure the newly born baby is safe. (7marks)

      2. Baby’s birth is first announced to family member
      3. Placenta/umbilical cord is disposed in a secret place/uncultivated field/banana plantation
      4. Prayers/sacrifices/libation are offered for the wellbeing of the baby and mother v. Baby is cleansed using medicinal herb solution/treatment by medicine men /witchdoctor
      5. Both mother and baby wore protective charms
      6. Baby’s mother stayed in seclusion for a number of days
      7. Baby and mother are given nutritious food to promote their health
      8. The baby is delivered by an expert/midwife
