    1. Outline Micah’s prophecy concerning the Messiah (Micah 5:2-7). (7 marks)
      1. The Messiah will be born in Bethlehem
      2. He will rule over Israel
      3. His origin is from the old/ancient days.
      4. He will be born of a woman.
      5. He will feed his flock.
      6. He will rule in the majesty/power of God.
      7. In his time, Israel will be secure.
      8. He shall be great to the ends of the earth.
      9.  Israel will have victory over her enemy/ there will be peace in Israel. Any 7x1=7marks

    2. Describe the activities that took place during the dedication of Jesus in the Temple (Luke 2:22-40) (7 marks)
      1. Jesus was taken to Jerusalem to be presented to the Lord by his parents. 
      2. Simeon took Jesus up in his arms/blessed the Lord.
      3. Simeon said that he was ready to die since he had seen God’s salvation/a light for revelation to the Gentiles/the glory to the Israelites.
      4. Simeon blessed the parents of Jesus.
      5. Simeon told Mary, Jesus’ Mother that the child was set for the fall and rising of many in Israel.
      6. Jesus’ parents marveled at what Simeon said about Jesus.
      7. Anna gave thanks/prayed/spoke of Jesus to all who were looking for the redemption of Jerusalem.
      8. The parents of Jesus performed everything according to the law of the Lord/offered a pair of turtle doves/pigeons.
      9. Parents of Jesus returned home.

      4. Christians understand that children should be taught the world of God/the Bible.
      5. Christians learn to ensure there is communication among family members/ inform one another of their whereabouts.

      1. All the people had been baptized.
      2. Jesus was also baptized.
      3. Jesus then started praying.
      4. The heavens opened.
      5. The Holy Spirit descended upon Jesus in a bodily form as a dove.
      6. Then a voice came from heaven.
      7. Then it said, ‘thou art my beloved son with thee am well pleased.’ Any 6X1=6 marks

    2. Outline seven teachings of John the Baptist. (7 marks)
      1. John taught the people on baptism of repentance.
      2. John told people to be faithful/ obedient to God.
      3. John warned people of God’s impending punishment.
      4. John encouraged the rich to share with the needy.
      5. John told the tax collectors not to steal/be honest.
      6. John told the soldiers to be contented with their wages/stop greed.
      7. John told the soldiers to stop robbing/accusing people falsely/should be truthful.
      8. John said that the messiah who was to come after him was mightier/He was unworthy to untie his sandals.
      9. The Messiah would baptize the people with fire and the Holy Spirit.
      10. The Messiah would separate the good from the evil/the evil would be punished.
      11. John condemned Herod for his adulterous life/marrying his brother’s wife. First 7x1=7 marks

    3. Why is it difficult for Christians to apply the teachings of John the Baptist in their lives today? (7 marks) 
      1. Christians lack faith in God’s word.
      2. Clinging to the past/inability to abandon the old/previous life style.
      3. Negative attitude by the rich towards the needy/poor.
      4. The influence of the mass media/moral decadence in society.
      5. Some Christians lack what to share with others/poverty.
      6. There is rampant corruption in the society/permissiveness in the society.
      7. The emergence of cult leaders/false prophets in the society.
      8. Lack of good role models.

      11. Jesus asked the religious leaders why they had come to arrest him as if he was a criminal

    2. Explain four reasons why Jesus used bread and wine during the last supper. (8marks)
      1. Jesus used bread because it was a common meal for the Jews.
      2. He used bread because unleavened bread was used during the Jewish celebration of the Passover.
      3. He used wine because it was a common drink for the Jews.
      4. Jesus explained that the bread represented his body which would be broken for forgiveness of sin.
      5. He used wine to represent his blood that was to be shed for the sealing of the new covenant.
      6. He used the bread to demonstrate that he is the bread of life/the lamb of sacrifice. 
      7. Jesus shared bread and wine as a sign of fellowship/unity/a preparation for the messianic banquet.
      8. Jesus used the bread and wine to initiate the new covenant/ to demonstrate how the disciples would practice the ritual.First 4x2=8 marks

    3. Show the importance of celebrating the Holy Communion in the church today. (6 marks)
      1. Christians celebrate the Holy Communion to remember the death and resurrection of Jesus.
      2. Celebrating the Holy Communion is a foretaste of messianic banquet.
      3. Through the celebration Christians are able to experience the Holy Spirit/the presence of the Holy trinity.
      4. Christians celebrate the Holy Communion in anticipation of the second coming of Christ.
      5. Christians are able to renew their faith in God.
      6. It encourages the spirit of sharing/demonstrates love.
      7. It gives Christians an opportunity to thank God for salvation. )

      1. The gifts of the Holy Spirit should be used for the common good of all.
      2. They should be used to strengthen/encourage/comfort members.
      3. They should be used to bring unity/not to discriminate/not to divide members.
      4. There is need to respect/appreciate all the gifts.
      5. The gifts of the Holy Spirit should be used in love.
      6. The gift of speaking in tongues should be minimized in public worship.
      7. There is need to have interpretation of tongues for them to be meaningful/helpful.
      8. The gifts should be used in an orderly manner/should not be used to bring confusion in the church.
      9. Prophecies should be carefully evaluated.

      1. Paul used the symbol of marriage to show the unity of believers/The church is likened to a relationship between the husband and wife.
      2. The church/Christians are united to Christ just as a husband is united to his wife.
      3. Christ loves the church/Christians just as the husband loves the wife. 
      4. The church has to submit to Christ just as the wife submits to her husband.
      5. Christ is the head of the church just as the husband is the head of the family/wife. 
      6. Just as a husband loves his own body/nourishes it, so Christ loves the church/nourishes it.

      6. Different interpretation of the Bible/doctrinal/denominational differences.
      7. Emergence of cults/idol worship.

      6. They may face rejection/not accepted in society.

    1. How has science and technology improved human life today? (7 marks)
      1. Modern means of transport enables human beings to travel faster.
      2. Use of electronic/print media: human beings are able to access/pass information to large audience.
      3. Use of industrial machines enables work to be done faster/efficiency.
      4. Use of fertilizers/agricultural machinery has led to increased productivity/yields/ preservation of food.
      5. Use of medicine/medical equipment has prolonged human life/reduces suffering.
      6. Use of equipment related to weather forecast assist human beings in understanding their environment.
      7. New sources of energy have enhanced human life.

    2. Give six reasons why Christians are opposed to euthanasia. (6 marks)
      1. God is the only one who gives life and thus should be the one to take it away.
      2. Euthanasia equals to murder which is biblically condemned/thou shall not kill.
      3. It destroys God's image in human beings.
      4. Human judgment is limited and therefore cannot make correct decision on termination the life of others.
      5. Medical ethics only allows a doctor to sustain life and not to take it away. vi. It is against Jesus mission on earth to heal the sick.
      6. Suffering is part of a Christian's life from the teachings of Jesus and therefore it cannot be used to justify euthanasia;
      7. The works of mercy involve saving life/not destroying it.
      8. It is a constitutional right to uphold human life.

      1. Keeping distance.
      2. Undergoing vaccination.
