- Difference between indirect & semi-direct lighting:
- Indirect lighting is where the light is brown onto the ceiling and the rays are reflected distributed to the whole room. The source of light is hidden. 1mrk
- Semi-direct lighting is where the source of light is covered with a shade which is inverted to provide light in all directions. 1mrk
- Reasons for serving soup to the sick:
- To replace water lost through sweating and urination.
- To replenish the loss of nutrients.

- Disadvantages of cross method of ventilating a room:
- It introduces draught in a room which may cause discomfort.
- It can lead to damage and accidents due to banging of doors and windows.

- Steaming – the food is easy to digest.
- The food is tender.

- The kitchen is free from odours.
- The kitchen does not have smoke.
- The room has cool air.

- It makes a room appear larger and spacious.

- Use mild (½) detergent as strong alkalis cause discolouration of white silk and fading in coloured ones (½)
- Gently (½) rub collars and cuffs to remove dirt
- Rinse (½) thoroughly in warm (½) water to remove dirt and soap.
- Use cold water (½) for the final rinse to which methylated spirit (½) is added to give a crispy and lustrous finish.
- Squeeze (½) excess water by hand to avoid damaging the fibres if twisted.
- For light silk fold (½) it in a clean towel to squeeze out moisture before finishing.
- Use a warm iron (½) while working fast before the fabric dries (½) in order to produce a smooth gloss finish (½).
- Air (½) to dry completely.

- Cleaning Formica topped table:
- Collect all equipment and materials (½)
- Dust to remove loose dirt (½)

- Remove pins and machine stitch on the right side of the garment (1mrk) close to the fold through the three layers of the fabric (½)

Stitching close to the fold - Trim the raw edges on the WS to 1cm (½) and neaten the raw edges by using any of the following; overcastting, machine zigzag, binding, loop stitches or by hemming (1mrk)

- It should be easy to clean for hygienic purposes.
