  - High levels of illiteracy in some parts of the country
  - Lack of money to fund the expensive translation process
  - Remoteness of some geographical regions which makes it inaccessible for the translators
  - Few people with translation skills and knowledge
  - Languages are dynamic which makes translation difficult (SHENG). 5x1=5marks)

  - It was used as a treasury/ important objects were kept there/ foreign currency was exchanged there/ sacrificial animals were sold there.
  - It was a source of unity among the people.
  - Gave them a sense of security.
  - It symbolized the presence of God among the people/ the Ark of the Covenant was kept there.
  - It was where people were taught the law.
  - It was used as a residence and training centre for religious leaders.
  - It was a place where religious disputes were settled/ law court/judicial court.
  - It was a place where religious ceremonies/rites like dedication and purification were performed.

3. Give seven reasons why Christians should practice forgiveness. (7marks)
  1. It shows love for others
  2. It creates/ promotes peace
  3. It is a way of winning converts
  4. it shows obedience to Christians teachings/ commands
  5. In order to follow the example of Christ

  7. It strengthens relationship/ tolerance

1. Describe how prophetic messages were written down. (7marks)
  1. The prophets themselves may have written down the prophetic message
  2. The prophets may have dictated the message to a scribe to write down.
  3. God dictated to the prophet what was to be put down.
  4. The disciples of the prophets preserved their masters’ teachings as oral traditions and passed it over to subsequent generations.
  5. The disciples of the prophets treasured recollections of the prophet’s life as well as their oracles and incorporated them into the historical books of the Bible.
  6. The scribes reorganized the prophet’s’ teachings according to subject matter
  7. The collection, compiling and writing of prophetic messages was accomplished over a long period of time. (1x7 =7marks)
2. Explain the significance of prophet Amos’ five visions(8marks)
  - A warm of locusts- God had given the Israelites time to repent
  - A great fire- God was still patient and gracious to the Israelites
  - A plumb line and a crooked wall- God was setting up his own standard among the people. Their ways were crooked.
  - A basket of ripe summer fruit- Israel was ripe for punishment
  - Destruction of the altar- God was not happy with their way of worship and would destroy all them without exceptions (4×2=8marks)
3. Factors that have led to the increase of Christians denominations in Kenya. (5marks)
  1. Rivalry for leadership/hunger for power.
  2. Differences in biblical interoperations/hunger for power
  3. Resistance to change by the older church members who want to remain as it was/generation gap.
  4. Material gain/greed selfishness where starting a church has become a business
  5. Lacks of spiritual satisfaction by some members make them start their own churches

  1. The kingdom of Judah had been taken over by Babylon
  2. The Babylonians had destroyed the walls of the city /the temple /Jerusalem

  4. Persia conquered Babylon /Jews came under the control of Persians
  5. The Persian Kings ruled the subjects through governors
  6. The conquered people were to pay tribute/taxes to Persia
  7. The Persian king/Cyrus allowed the Jews to return to Judah in three stages
  8. Nehemiah led the third group of Jews back to Judah

3. Identify ways in which Christians resolve conflicts among themselves. (5marks)
  1. They Pray over the issue / problem.
