The success and honour will surprise many who have witnessed the suffering.
The servant is despised, rejected and Ignored by those who are with him.
He has nothing attractive. He is very ordinary and simple.
He is harshly treated, arrested, sentenced to death and killed.
His body is burled with the bodies of rich men.
He endures all that is done to him in humble silence.
He accepts the suffering which should have been received by others for their sins.
Through his suffering, human beings are reconciled to God.
It was the will of God that the servant should suffer.

To attract listeners because the stories were enjoyable.
It was a common teaching method at that time.
To make his listeners think for themselves and make individual judgment/to enable listeners to think critically.
To make it easy for the people to understand the complicated theme of the unseen kingdom.
To avoid direct confrontations with the Pharisees, the scribes and the Sadducees.
To Isolate serious and keen listeners from the rest of the group.
He was to keep His identity a secret until he finalizes His mission.
To fulfill the O.T prophecies.
This helped in shaping their altitudes to Jesus and in bringing them to a closer and a new relationship with him.
The use of parables made the teachings of Jesus quite interesting. Jesus was a gifted teacher and story teller.
By using parables, those who heard would easily remember them and be able to refer to them.

When crowds from every town came to him, Jesus gave the parable of the sower.
A sower went to the field to sow seeds.
Some of the seeds fall on the footpath where they were stepped on and eaten by the birds of air.
Some fell on a fertile soil, they grew and bore fruits.
The seed is the word of God.
The sower represents God or his messengers.
The seeds that fell along the path are those people who heard the word then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts that they may not believe and be saved.
The seeds that fell on rocks are those who when they hear the word of God, they receive it with joy but for a while, because when temptations comes they fall away.
The seeds that fell on the thrones are those who hear the word but as they go their way they are carried away by the cares and riches and pleasures of life and their fruits do not mature.
Those that fell on fertile are those who hear the word of God, hold it in their hearts and bring forth fruits.
Some fell on the rocky ground they grew up a little but they dried up due to lack of moisture. - State seven lessons Christians learn from the parable of the sower (7mks)
Christians should have unwavering hearts and stand firm in their faith
Christians cannot serve two masters at the same time, that is worldly pleasures and God
Christians should be ready for spiritual trials of faith and strive to overcome them
They should be the good soil and bring forth fruit in their missionary work inspite of opposition and rejection
Worries pleasures and riches of this world cannot help one to accept the word of God
God's kingdom is spiritual and only those who seek it genuinely are able to understand it and inherit it.
God's kingdom is revealed to different people at different times
Positive results of preachers do not depend on them but on the attitudes of the people

The Apostles had gathered in one place on the day of Pentecost
A sound came from heaven like a mighty wind which filled the house
There appeared tongues of fire which rested on each one of them
The Apostles were all filled with the Holy Spirit
They started talking in other tongues
The multitude in Jerusalem were amazed/wondered at what was happening to the Apostles
The multitude mocked the disciples of being drunk
Peter defended the disciples/explained the meaning of the event
Peter preached to the multitude about the Ministry of Jesus
The people asked Peter what they could do about the message
Peter told them to repent/be baptized in the name of Jesus
Three thousand people repented/were baptized. - Identify six significance of the outpouring of the holy spirit to the twelve desciples of Jesus. (6mks)
The holy spirit unified the desciples as they prayed together
He made them join hands in helping the needy in the society especially widows and orphans
He gave the desciples ability to perform miracles in the name of Christ
With the help of the holy spirit the desciples were able to convert many people to Christianity and establish more churches
To enable the desciples to devote themselves to the teachings of Jesus
He would empower the disciples to be able to speak with courage/confidence/authority.

Jesus recognized the need for rest by withdrawing his disciples from their active ministry,
It's good to have time alone for reflection, rest, visit friend etc.
Leisure should be used to seek God and help others eg.
