MARKING SCHEME

  1.  
    1. Nathans prophecies concerning the Messiah (2 Samuel 7:3-17)
      1. God would raise up an offspring from David to sit on the throne.
      2. He would deliver the people from their enemies.
      3. God would establish the throne of his kingdom last forever.
      4. God will be his father and He will be his son.
      5. God will not take his steadfast love from him.
      6. God would make his name great and bless his descendants.
      7. Israel would live in peace
      8. God would support the expected king
    2. The visit of the Angel of the Lord to the Shepherds on the night Jesus was born.
      1. The shepherds were looking after their flocks in the field at night
      2. The angel appeared to them
      3. The glory of the lord shone around them
      4. They were filled with fear
      5. The angle reassured them/ told them not to fear
      6. He told them of the good news of the birth of Jesus
      7. They were told where to find baby Jesus
      8. The angles gave them a sign on how they would find Jesus
      9. There appeared a host of angles singing/ praising God
      10. The angles left them/ went back to heaven
      11. The shepherds went to Bethlehem/ found baby Jesus
    3. Lessons Christians learn about family relationships from the incident when Jesus accompanied his parents for the Passover Festival.

    1. The healing of the man with a withered hand in Lk 6: 6 – 11. (8 marks)
      1. Jesus went into the synagogue on a Sabbath / to teach / was teaching
      2. There was a man with a withered hand.
      3. The Pharisees and the teachers of the law watched closely to see whether Jesus will heal on a Sabbath.
      4. Jesus knew what they were thinking and He told the man to get up.
      5. The man stood up there
      6. Jesus asked them whether it was lawful to do good or evil; save life or destroy it on a Sabbath.
      7. Looking around He said to the man, “stretch out your hand”
      8. The mad did so and he was completely healed.
      9. The Pharisees and the teachers of the law were furious and they started to discuss among themselves what they were to do with Jesus. 8x 1 = 8 marks

    1. The incident in which Jesus was accused of using the power of Beelzebul to cast out demons.
      1. Some people had watched Jesus drive out demons from a dumb man.
      2. When the demon came out, the man started speaking.
      3. The crowds were amazed.
      4. However, some people accused Jesus of using the power of Beelzebul.
      5. Others asked for a sign from heaven to test him.
      6. Jesus knew their thoughts and told them a house divided against itself will fall.
      7. He said Satan cannot be divided against himself for his kingdom will fall.
      8. Jesus asked them by whom their followers would drive out demons in. He drove out demons by Beelzebul.
      9. Jesus talked about a strong man guarding his house and his possessions would be safe until a stronger man overpowers his guard and takes away his possessions.
      10. He said that whoever was not with him was against him.(Any 8 x 1=8mks)

      1. Nations of the world find protection in God’s kingdom.
      2. The kingdom of God grows from a humble beginning.
      3. The kingdom of God is universal/all nations of the world come together.
      4. The kingdom of God grows in unseen ways/works inside people’s hearts.
      5. The kingdom of God works mysteriously transforming the lives of those who join it.
      6. The kingdom of God grows to greatness and becomes big though gradually.

    3. Six reasons why a Christian should practice Jesus’ teachings on the kingdom of God.
      1. To have eternal life/enter heaven.

      7. They help the public to respect the professional from undue pressures from other interested parties.
      8. They help to determine the entry requirement/qualifications needed in a given profession.

    3. Ways in which the church is helping to reduce the rate of unemployment in Kenya today.
      1. The church encourages people to start income generating activities
      2. The church provides loans to the unemployed to start small scale business
      3. The church creates job opportunities through establishing church projects.
      4. It teaches the youth about the dignity of manual work/encourage the youth to participate in agriculture/technical fields.
      5. It organizes seminars for the youth/unemployment on how to utilize their potentials
      6. It condemns corrupt practices which interfere with the recruitment/economic growth.
      7. It encourages its members to pay taxes promptly so that the government can have the resources to employ/pay the workers
      8. It trains/sponsors the youths on vocational skills that are necessary for employment /self employment.
      9. The church tries to be fair when recruiting people for various jobs. (6x 1 = 6 marks)
