  1.  
    1. Give six reasons why the Bible is referred to as a library (6mks)
      • It has different categories of books/division.
      • It contains many books compiled together.
      • The books were written at different times/backgrounds
      • The book were written for different audiences
      • The books are systematically arranged
      • It was written by different authors
      • It is divided into two main parts O.T. and N.T.       (6x1=6mks)
    2. Explain four differences in the two creation accounts (8mks)
      • The creation of firmament, light and stars creeping animals are in the first account but omitted in the second account.
      • The planting of the garden of Eden and rivers in it are in the second account but not in the first account.
      • Man and woman are created at the same time in the first account, while in the second account, man is created from dust and the woman from man’s ribs.
      • In the 2nd account, man was created first while in the 1st account he was created last.
      • Marriage is for procreation in the 1st account while in the 2nd account it is for companionship.
      • In the 1st account creation is completed in 6 days while in the 2nd account there is no number of days given.
      • In the 1st account God appreciated everything as good and in the 2nd account there is no mention of good.
      • In the 1st account creation is out of nothing while in the 2nd account creation is out of substances.
      • In 1st account God gives name to what he created while in the 2nd man named what God had created.
      • In the 1st account God rested and on the 2nd account no rest.
      • In the 1st account no mention of the 1st account but mentioned in the 2nd account.
      • In the 1st account God creates in unity with the spirit while in 2nd account He was alone.
      • In the 1st account the spirit of God was moving over the face of the water while in the 2nd account the spirit of God is not mentioned.  (4x2=8mks)
    3. Outline seven ways in which Christians care for God’s creation (7mks)
      • Participating in protecting the environment by planting trees.
      • Cleaning the environment
      • Initiating soil conservation programs
      • Creating awareness for other people on protecting the environment.
      • Establish flowers/tree nurseries.
      • Avoid poaching
      • Condemn the destruction or exploitation of environment
      • Give financial assistance to environment programs
      • Build institution to teach on environment issues.

    1. Give six reasons that made the Israelites to break the covenant while at Mt. Sinai. (Exodus 32: 1-35) (6mks)
      • Moses their leader delayed to come down from the mountain.
      • Aaron who had been left in charge of the people was a weak leader.
      • The people demanded for a god/gods they could see.
      • The people were still influenced by the Egyptian way of worship/idolatry.
      • Moses teaching/influence had faded/vanished from the people’s mind.
      • The people lost faith in their invisible God.
      • They thought God had abandoned them/forsaken

      • God is holy - The Israelites were asked to mark a boundary at the foot of the mouth.
      • God fulfills his promises - He rescued the Israelites from Egypt after many years of slavery.
      • God is powerful - He protected the Israelites from the Egyptians.
      • God is mysterious – He manifested Himself in various forms e.g. thunder, a thick cloud.
      • God is merciful & loving – Provided water and food
      • God hates sin – He initiated the renewing of the covenant since the Israelites had broken the covenant they had made.
      • God is slow to anger – He forgive them many times when they disobeyed Him.
      • God is jealous – He wants Himself to be worshipped alone.
      • God can’t be represented in any form.
    3. How does Decalogue apply to Christian life today. (7mks)
      • It protects Christian from idol worship
      • It helps Christians to have the right relationship with God
      • It enables Christians to live peacefully
      • It helps Christians to develop obedience to everyone around them.
      • It helps Christians to protect property of others
      • It encourages humility and obedience to God.
      • It helps them to uphold morals
      • It helps them set aside time for worship    (7x1=7mks)

    1. Explain six the reasons why Jesus taught in parables. (6mks)
      • To distinguish the serious seekers of the kingdom from those who were just eager to listen to the story.
      • To explain unknown issues in a language people could easily understand.
      • To make people think critically about issues concerning the kingdom.
      • To conceal his true identity as the Messiah.
      • It was a method of teaching which was common those days.
      • To teach his disciples that they should be persistent and never be discouraged.
      • To make an indirect attack on his opponents like the pharisees, the scribes and the Sadducees.
      • Parables encouraged more interactions with Jesus as they provoked curiosity from his audience.

    2. Describe the healing of the Gerasene demoniac (8mks)
      • Jesus and his disciples arrived in the country of the Gerasa after sailing across the sea of Galilee
      • A man possessed by demons met him from the city
      • The demoniac had no clothes and he lived among the tombs.
      • When he saw Jesus, he fell before him and loudly said, ‘what have you to do with me, Jesus, the son of the most High God? I beseech you, do not torment me.”
      • For Jesus had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man.
      • The man had been bound in chains
      • When Jesus asked him what his name was he responded that he was called ‘’Legion”.
      • Jesus had sympathy for the Gerasene demoniac and ordered the unclean spirit to leave him.
      • Jesus let the evil spirit go into the pigs that were grazing nearby, which then fell into the lake and were drowned.
      • The man was told to go and proclaim what God had done for him.
      • He went back to his village and proclaimed the good news.

    3. What lessons can Christians learn from the healing of the Gerasene demonic. (6mks)
      • Jesus has power over evil spirits
      • It proved the divinity of Jesus as the son of God
      • Jesus can liberate us from the power of Satan and sin just as he liberated the demon possessed man.
      • Jesus came to bring God’s kingdom and destroy the kingdom of Satan.
      • Human life is of great value to Jesus.
      • Christians should be ready to surrender their material possessions to save people in need.
      • Christians should constantly fight against powers of evil
      • Jesus is able to heal the whole person both physically and mentally.    (6x1=6mks)

      • To show the power of faith of the audience.
      • To show compassion to the needy.
      • To show He had power over nature
      • Miracles were a proof that the kingdom of God has come.
      • They proved that Jesus was the source of life.
      • They showed that Jesus cared for both physical and spiritual needs.
      • Miracles showed that Jesus had come for all
      • Miracles formed part of Jesus ministry/teaching.
      • Miracles of Jesus drew crowds to him.
      • Miracles were a sign of God’s presence through Jesus. (5x1=5mks)
    2. Describe the feeding of five thousand people as found in Luke 9:10-17 (8mks)
      • Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the city of Bethsaida.
      • Crowds followed him and He welcomed them, preached the Good news of the kingdom of God.
      • As the day began to wear away, his disciples asked him to send the crowd into the villages and the surrounding country so that they can get food for they were in a lonely place.
      • Jesus told his disciples to give the crowd something to eat.
      • There were about five thousand people.
      • Jesus asked the disciples to feed the crowd.
      • They said they had only 5 loaves and two fish which could not feed the people.
      • Jesus asked the disciples to make the people to sit down in groups
      • He took the five loaves and two fish, He looked up to heaven and thanked God. He then broke the bread and asked his disciples to share it out.
      • People ate and were satisfied.
      • The disciples collected twelve baskets of left overs.
    3. In what ways can Christians today demonstrate their concern to the needy. (7mks)
      • Provide material/financial support to those experiencing food shortage
      • Donate food to the hungry ones
      • Visiting the sick, the prisoners
      • Preaching the message of salvation to the needy
      • Guide and counsel those disturbed by life’s challenges.
      • Christians should pray with and for the less fortunate- the poor, orphans.
      • Christians should provide training opportunities to the poor to enable them improve their condition.
      • Christians should establish various institution for the needy e.g. schools, homes, hospitals for the needy.
      • They should promote just laws to protect the rights of the under privileged.

    1. Explain seven roles of traditional kinship system in African communities. (7mks)
      • regulated people’s behavior towards each other- promoted peaceful and harmonious relationship.
      • It promoted co-operation among community members especially in difficult times.
      • It helps to ensure that the disadvantaged members of the community were taken care of.
      • The living dead and the ancestors, who were part of the kinship system ensured the protection of the living.
      • It lead to preservation of cultural identify by ensuring that all members were educated in the beliefs and practice of the community.
      • It provided a peaceful way of settling disputes
      • It ensures fairness and transparency in sharing inherited resources and therefore the disadvantaged were not denied their right.
      • It unites the members of the family, clan and the larger community by giving them a sense of belonging
      • It regulates customs, rules and regulation. (7x1=7mks)

      • Migration to urban areas
      • Education – going for further studies you are separated with your family
      • Economic difficulties – has led to individualism.
      • Christianity – its against some traditional cultures e.g. polygamy, wife-inheritance
      • Influence of western culture
      • Tribal and clan wars
      • Emphasis on nationalism rather than clannism
      • New government structures where administrative officials have taken over the role of leaders. (6x1=6mks)

      • Protected the people from misfortunes
      • Purified people, their homes and properties.
      • Acted as mediator between the living, the dead and God.
      • Warned people of impending danger.
      • Helped in trapping criminals and other harmful people.
      • Advising people on how to relate to each other and the ancestors
