- A centurion had a sick servant who was dear to him

- When the centurion heard that Jesus was coming to him he sent a message from his friends to stop him claiming that he was not worthy to have Jesus under his roof
- By asking Jesus not to come to a gentile house the centurion showed that he respected both Jesus and the Jews laws
- The centurion had faith that Jesus would cure his servant by saying a wordWhen Jesus heard this , He marveled at the centurions faith and said that the centurion had faith that surpassed that of Israel
