      • Amos was called to prophesy during the reign of Jeroboam II of Israel and Uzziah of Judah
      • Amos was a herdsman of Tekoa, a village in the southern kingdom
      • He was also a dresser of Sycamore Trees
      • God called him while he was looking after his flock in the wilderness of Judah
      • He was told to go and prophesy to the people of Israel
      • He likened his call to the roar of a lion when everyone fears
      • He was called through a vision
      • God showed Him the evils of Israel
      • He was sent to condemn the worship at Bethel
      • His message angered Amaziah the priest
      • Amos declared He was not a professional prophet but He has been sent by God.
    2. Explain Amos’ teaching on the day of the Lord (6x1=6mks)
      • It would be a day of terror and disaster
      • God will punish the Israelites for their disobedience
      • There will be earthquakes
      • There will be darkness at noon
