    1. Explain four differences between first and the second creation accounts.
      • In the first account, creation is done in 7 days /orderly /systematic while in the second there was no order
      • In the first account creation is out of nothing while in the second creation is out of substance.
      • In the first account, marriage is for procreation while in the second marriage is for companionship.
      • In the first account there is a rest day/ seventh day while in the second there is no rest day.
      • In the first account all that was created was good ,this is not mentioned in the second
      • In the first account, there is no garden, while in the second there is the Garden of Eden.
      • The first creation is God centered while the second is man-centered.

      • It was inspired by God.
      • It deals with God’s revelation to human beings.

    1. Describe how the Israelites broke the covenant at Mt.Sinai.
      • Moses had gone up the mountain to meet God and had left Aaron in charge of the people.
      • He delayed in coming back and the people became impatient.
      • The people lost faith in Yahweh and asked Aaron to make them gods who would lead them in the wilderness.
      • Aaron asked them to take off rings of gold from their ears and bring to him.
      • Aaron melted them and made a golden calf which he presented to the people
      • The people worshipped it as the god who brought them out of Egypt.
      • Aaron built an altar for the golden calf.
      • Aaron invited people for a great feast the following day in honour of the calf.
      • The people offered burnt offerings and peace offerings to the calf.
      • The people ate, danced and made merry around the calf.
      • God told Moses about the people’s disobedience.
      • God was angry and He swore to destroy the entire nation for its unfaithfulness.
      • Moses interceded for the people and He accepted.
      • Moses came down with the two stone tablets on which God had written the Ten Commandments.
      • When Moses saw what the Israelites were doing he was angry, he threw down the stone tablets breaking them.
      • He took the golden calf, burnt, mixed it with water and made the Israelites to drink it.
      • Moses asked the Israelites to decide between following Yahweh or the golden calf.
      • The faithful who stood on Yahweh’s side were commanded by Moses to kill the unfaithful Israelites.

    2. Show four ways how God fulfilled the promises that he made to Abraham.
      • Abraham and his descendants were given the Promised Land.
      • Through Abraham’s descendants, the nation of Israel came to be.
      • Isaac was born to Abraham who became an heir
      • Abraham was blessed with material possessions.
      • His name was made great in the genealogy of Jesus
      • Kings came from Abraham’s descendants e.g. David , Solomon, Rehoboam and even Jesus Christ
      • God made an everlasting covenant with Abraham through Jesus Christ.
      • Abraham died at an old age of 175 years as he had been promised. First (4×2) =8 mks
    3. Identify ways in which Christians can use to bring people to the church today.
      • Door to door visits/prayer
      • Holding crusades in the open places.
      • Organizing support services to help the needy, poor, widows and the sick.
      • Formulating church laws which are not discriminative.
      • Holding rallies of different groups i.e. the youth, women, men etc.
      • Meeting the physical, spiritual, psychological, economic and moral needs of the people.
      • Involving the members in church activities e.g. Bible reading, singing. Any (5×1=5 mks)

      • David’s name would be famous and great
      • God would protect Israel from oppression and make her live in peace.
      • God would protect David from His enemies
      • God would raise up an heir from Davis’s lineage to sit on the throne.
      • God would burry David with his ancestors
      • God would establish an everlasting kingdom for David.
      • David and his descendants would be blessed forever.
      • The messiah would come from David’s lineage.
      • God would punish David’s sons when they did wrong as a father punishes a son .
      • God would always support David’s heirs
      • David’s son would built a temple for God
      • God would give Israel their own land to settle.

    2. Give reasons why Elijah faced danger and hostility as a prophet of God.
      • He pronounced a severe drought in the name of Yahweh which lasted 3 ½ yrs.’ and caused a lot of suffering in Israel.
      • He put to death 450 prophets of Baal during the Mt.Carmel contest.
      • He boldly condemned King Ahab for breaking the social demand of the covenant by taking Naboth’s vineyard and having him stoned to death.
      • He pronounced God’s severe punishment to the house of Ahab.
      • He condemned the worship of Baal which had been declared the official state religion.
      • It was an order from Jezebel that Yahweh’s prophets should be persecuted.

    3. Identify reasons why a preacher may be disliked by the society today.
      • When he preaches against the popular beliefs and practices of the community eg.female circumcision ,polygamy, witchcraft ,corruption

      • Lengthy and boring sermons delivered by the preacher.
      • When the preacher is corrupt and immoral.
      • When the preacher condemns corruption and other evils committed by those in higher authority

      • Joel’s prophecy in the old testament on the infilling of the Holy Spirit was fulfilled in the new testament when the disciples were filled with the Holy spirit in Jerusalem.
      • Isaiah’s prophecy of a suffering servant in the Old Testament is fulfilled in the New Testament when Jesus suffers in the hands of Jewish officials.
      • Nathan’s prophecy of an everlasting king is fulfilled in the New Testament when Jesus ruled forever.
      • David’s /psalmist’s prophecy of Jesus sitting at the right hand of his father is fulfilled in the New Testament when Jesus ascends and goes to sit at the right hand of His father.
      • Isaiah’s prophecy of Jesus being born by a virgin is fulfilled in the New Testament when Jesus is born by a Virgin Mary.

      • It is obedience to God’s teachings

      • Was born in Anathoth in Judah.
      • Was the son of the Ilkiah, one of the priests of Anathoth.
      • Was well educated in the religious traditions of Israel due to his priestly family background.
      • Was called to be a prophet when he was still a young man.
      • Was called during the reign of king Josiah
      • He prophesied during the reign the reigns of the last kings of Judah before exile in Babylon
      • In his prophetic work, Jeremiah suffered stiff opposition from his own kinsmen, kings of Judah, priests and false prophets.
      • He suffered spiritually and emotionally sometimes questioning God’s Justice because he felt he was treated unfairly.
      • He did not marry or raise a family.
      • He preached against social and religious evils in Judah.
      • He prophesied about God’s punishment upon Judah because of her violation of the covenant.
      • Was forced to flee to Egypt after the fall of Jerusalem.
      • His prophetic ministry was centered in Jerusalem.

      • It regulates marital customs, rules and regulations.
      • It helps to take care of the disadvantaged members of the community.
      • It ensures that all members of the community are well educated in the beliefs and practice of the community.

      • Through folk stories in which the youth were taught to uphold values and avoid vices.
      • Through proverbs, riddles, parables to pass on the messages to the children and train them to think for themselves.
      • Through song and dance which highlight moral lessons, cultural heritage and skills.
      • Through initiation ceremonies through which they are taught the secretes of society and mysteries of life.
      • Through practical involvement e.g. accompanying older people to learn how certain duties are done.
      • Through question and answer in order to find out whether children understand certain teachings.
      • Through apprenticeship in specialized areas as in black smiths, rain makers and herbalists.
      • Through peer group where members learn from one another.

      • Negative peer pressure influences members to rely on themselves other than God.
