  2. Outline four similarities between traditional African view of evil and Christian understanding of sin.(8mks)
    • In both cases, evil is caused by a foreign agent/forces/external forces i.e. serpent .in the Bible and malicious /bad spirit in the African community.
    • In both sin comes as a result of disobedience of the culprit.
    • Both looked at evil as something coming from a curse.
    • Both agree that the result of evil is suffering and hardship.
    • In both, evil leads to separation from God/destroys relationship between God and people.
    • In both, God is the guardian of law and order/morality.
    • In both, evil leads to death of the offender   4×2= 8 marks
  3. Outline five activities of David that showed he had faith in God. (5mks)
    • David brought the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem.
    • He did not only make Jerusalem his political capital but also the holy city/religious/ spiritual-capital in which all Israelites came for religious occasions. He composed the psalms used in worship.
    • He showed respect to the prophets of Yahweh E.g. Nathan.
    • When David made mistakes he repented and asked for Yahweh’s forgiveness.
    • David humbled himself before Yahweh and completely submitted to his will.
    • He advised others to obey God.
    • He constantly prayed to God and sought his guidance.
    • He conquered the enemies of Israel to enable the Israelites worship God in peace.     5×1= 5 marks

  8. Describe the call of the first disciples.(8mks)
    • One day Jesus standing by the lake of Gennesaret where the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God
    • He saw two boats close to the shore and got into one of them which was Simon’s
    • He taught the people from this boat.
    • After he had finished speaking, he asked Simon to cast the net into the sea for a catch.
    • At first Simon was reluctant because he had been fishing the whole day and night and had caught nothing.
    • Simon eventually agreed and cast the nets into the sea; together with his partners John and James the sons of Zebedee, they caught such a huge number of fish that the net began to tear.
    • They beckoned to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. They came and filled both the boats, so they began to sink.
    • They were so moved by the miraculous catch of fish that Simon fell on his knees before Jesus and urged him go away and confessed that he is a sinner
    • Jesus told Simon not to be afraid for from that time onwards he will be catching men.
    • The other companions of Simon Peter were Andrew and the two sons of Zebedee; John and James; they all left everything and followed Jesus .                               8×1= 8 marks
  9. State five lessons that Christian learn from the call of the first disciples. (5mks)
    • Christen learn that god still call people to serve him today.
    • Christians are called by god to serve him.
    • Christian learn that god can call anyone.
    • Those called to serve God should repent their sins.
    • Eternal life supersedes earthly riches.
    • Christian should encourage team work.
    • There is hope for inheriting the kingdom of God for those who follow Jesus.
    • God reveals himself through life situations.            5×1= 5 marks
  10. Describe the transfiguration of Jesus (8mks)
    • Jesus went up the mountain to pray,
    • He took his beloved disciple with him--- Peter , john, and James,
    • As Jesus was praying his physical body was transformed into a heavenly glorious body.
    • His clothes become dazzling white and his face shone with new brightness.
    • Suddenly Moses an Elijah appeared and spoke to Jesus about his departure.
    • Peter and his companion who were asleep woke up and show Jesus transfigured. They saw two men standing with him.
    • As the two men were leaving peter suggested to Jesus that they should build three booths one for Jesus, one for Moses and one for Elijah.
    • A cloud came over disciples and they were frightened.
    • A voice was heard saying that Jesus was the beloved son of God who should be listened to.
    • Jesus found himself alone.
    • The disciples dint tell anyone of what they saw.           8×1= 8 marks
  11. Identify six ways in through which the church continues with the healing ministry of Jesus Christ (6mks)
    • Praying for the sick/ laying hand/anointing the sick.
    • Visiting the sick.

    • There was once a rich man who employed a servant to manage his property
    • The rich man got a word that the manager was misusing his resources. He called him and informed him to give him a complete account of how he was handling his property
    • The shrewd manager knew that the manage was going to sack him and he decided to befriend the debtors so that they could take care of him when sacked
    • One debtor owed the master one hundred measures of oil. He was asked to change to fifty.
    • The second servant owed the manager a hundred measures  wheat and was told to change to eighty.
    • The master praised the manager for doing such a shrewd thing
    • Jesus praised the manager not because f his dishonesty but because he acted promptly in a moment of crisis   5×1= 5 marks
  13. With reference to the story of the rich man and Lazarus, explain the teaching of Jesus on proper use of wealth (Luke 16; 19-31). (5mks)
    • Wealth should be used to alleviate the suffering of others/ help the needy.
    • Wealth should be used to spread the good news.
    • Wealth should be used to serve others/ glorify God.
    • Wealth should not be used to buy unnecessary material possession while others are suffering.
    • Proper use of wealth enables one to serve in heaven.
    • Wealth should not be use to humiliate/ press others.
    • Too much wealth can prevent one from having eternal life/ entering Gods kingdom.
    • Wealth is a gift/ blessing from God.
