1(a) Outline Nathan prophecy concerning the Messiah (2samuel 7:3-17) (6mks)                        

  • God would ensure the kingdom of David lasts forever.
  • An heir of David would be raised up to sit on the throne.
  • The king would save the people of Israel from their enemies
  • God would always support such a king
  • God would keep the kingdom strong for David’s son.
  • God would give Israel their own land
  • God would make David’s name great and bless his descendants forever  6 x 1 = 6mks

(b) Mention the events that took place on the night Jesus was born (Lk 2:6-22) (7mks)

  • When Jesus was born, his mother wrapped him in swaddling clothes
  • She placed him on a manger.
  • There were shepherd’s watching over their flocks
  • An Angel appeared to the shepherd’s in the region to tell them of the birth of the savior.
  • A great company of heavenly hosts/ angels appeared singing praises to God.
  • The shepherds decided to go to Bethlehem/ hurried off to Bethlehem.
  • They spread the news to about the baby to other people
  • The shepherd returned praising/glorifying God
  • The angel gave a sign on how to identify the baby 7 x 1 = 7 mks

c) Give SEVEN ways through which church leaders prepare for the second coming of Christ (7mks)

  • Preaching good news
  • Living exemplary lives
  • Helping the needy
  • Condemning evils in the society
  • Sharing in the lord’s supper/baptism
  • Confessing Jesus as lord
  • Repenting and asking for forgiveness of sins

b) Describe the incident in which Jesus Christ calmed the storm (Lk 8: 22-25) (8mks)

  • Jesus got into a boat with his disciples
  • He told them that they should go to the other side of the lake so they set out
  • As they sailed Jesus fell a sleep
  • A storm of wind came down on the lake
  • The boat was filled with water/they were in danger
  • The disciples went and woke Jesus saying “master we are perishing”
  • Jesus got up and rebuked the wind/raging water/waves
  • The storm subsided/ceased/there was calm
  • Jesus asked the disciples where their faith was
  • The disciples were afraid/marveled. They wondered who Jesus was that even the wind/waves could obey him  8 x 1   = 8mks

c) State FIVE Christian values that can be learnt from Centurion whose servant Jesus healed in (Lk 7: 1-10) 5mks)

  • Humility /Respect

3(a) Describe the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem (LK 19: 28-40) (6mks)

  • When Jesus came to Mt. olives, he sent two of his disciples/ he gave instructions about a colt which they were to bring to him.
  • The disciples found the colt / untied it.
  • The owner of the colt sought to know where it was being taken.
  • The disciples told him that the Lord needed it.
  • The disciples brought the colt to Jesus/ put their garment on its back/sat Jesus on it.
  • As Jesus went along on the colt, people spread their garments on the road where he passed.
  • The crowd of disciples praised/glorified God joyfully in loud voices for all the mighty work they had seen.
  • Some of the Pharisees were uncomfortable and ordered Jesus tell them to keep quiet.
  • Jesus answered them that if the disciples kept quiet stones would cry out.
  • Jesus no longer hid his messiahship. 6x 1 = 6mks

b)Outline the events that took place from the time Jesus was arrested up to the time he was sentenced to die (7mks)

  • Jesus was taken to the house of the high priest
  • Peter denied Jesus three times
  • Jesus was mocked/beaten/blindfolded
  • Jesus was taken to the Sanhedrin who made religious accusation against him
  • He was sent to Herod who questioned/ridiculed/dressed him in royal robe
  • Pilate said he had not found Jesus guilty
  • Pilate chose to have Jesus flogged/chastised
  • The crowd shouted that Jesus should be crucified/demanded for the release of Barnabas.
  • Pilate surrendered Jesus to the crowd to be crucified. 7 x1 = 7mks

c) State SEVEN lessons Christians learn from the suffering and death of Jesus (7mks)

  • Christians should have faith in God
  • They should endure suffering/Be ready to be rejected
  • They should forgive their enemies
  • Christians should repent/confess their sins
  • They should be obedient /royal to God
  • They should stand firm for the truth at all times
  • Christians should sacrifice for the service of others
  • They should be prayerful/ pray for others
  • Christians should be witness/surrender to the lordship of Christ
  • Christians should be courageous/brave  7 x 1   = 7mks

4(a) Describe how Peters’ life was transformed on the day of Pentecost (7mks)

  • Peter was filed with the holy spirit
  • He started speaking in tongues
  • He became courageous/defended the disciples that they were not drunk
  • He was able to remember old testament prophecies/teachings
  • He began witnessing the life, death and resurrection of Jesus
  • He called people to repentance
  • He was empowered to perform miracles
  • He took up a leadership role    7 x 1 = 7 mks

b) Explain how the unity of believers is expressed in the church as the body of Christ (6mks)

  • Believers are the body while Christ is the head of the church
  • The body has different organs the same way the church has different believers
  • As each part of the body contributes to the whole. All church members should work for the wellbeing of the church
  • Each part of the body has a part to play same case each member of the church has different gifts for the benefits of the church
  • There should be no division in church since all members are the body of Christ
  • Baptism in the holy spirit unites all believers as one   6 x 1 = 6mks

c) How can Christians promote unity in the work place?   (7mks)

  • By listening to people’s different opinions and enabling them to reach a consensus
  • By discouraging industrial action and calling for a dialogue
  • By giving employees fair wages
  • By pointing out where employees can improve on employer – employee relationship
  • By encouraging people to do their work diligently and as agreed in the contract
  • Obeying and respecting the authorities at the work place
  • By providing favourable working conditions
  • Giving employees rest/leave from work regularly
  • Showing concern for colleagues personal issues 7 x 1   = 7mks

  • In both sexuality is a gift from God
  • In both human sexuality is sacred/holy
  • In both the gift of sex should be enjoyed in marriage
  • In both the gift of sex is for procreation
  • In both there are rules and regulations regarding the use of the gift of sex
  • Elders/parents are to guard/teach the youth regarding their sexuality. 1   x     6   = 6mks

c) How is responsible parenthood demonstrated by Christians in Kenya today? (7mks)

  • Christians parents provide physical/basic needs for the family
  • They provide spiritual guidance to their children
  • They teach their children to live in harmony with others/moral values
  • They provide their children with education in order to acquire necessary knowledge/skills to  realize their full potential
  • They act as role models for their children
  • They discipline /correct children whenever they deviate from the norms
  • They provide protection or security to their children which enables the children to deal with situations in life.
  • They teach their children how to grow physically/socially/psychologically

  • Marriage should be between man and woman
  • Marriage should be monogamous
  • Husband and wife should complement each other
  • The husband should love the wife
  • Marriage is for companionship
  • Husband and wife should be faithful to each other
  • Sex is for married couples
  • The wife should submit to the husband

b) State SEVEN reasons why some young people remain unmarried in Kenya (7mks)

  • Religious commitment hinders one from marriages
  • Discouragement from failing marriages
  • They are not ready to take responsibilities of marriages/Commitment
  • Poverty/inadequate resources to start a family
  • Permissiveness allows men to satisfy their sexual lust-without marriage commitment
  • Marriage is no longer a communal duty but an individual decision
  • To pursue their career/education
  • Fear of being rejected

c)In what six ways is the church helping to solve the problems of domestic violence today. (6mks)

  • Offering guidance and counseling to couples who are affected
