    1. With reference to the incident when Jesus was dedicated to God , outline seven revelation of Simeon and Annah about His life.
      • Jesus would save people
      • He would bring glory to Israel
      • He would be the light to the gentiles
      • He would be universal saviour
      • He would bring judgement to Israel
      • Many people would oppose his work
      • He would reveal secrets thought of people
      • He would be a source of redemption for Jerusalem (7x1)
    2. List seven Jewish ceremonies in which Jesus was involved.
      • Circumcised and named after 8 days as the law required
      • Mary underwent purification after the birth of Jesus
      • Turtles, doves presented at the temple
      • Jesus observed the Sabbath by going to the synagogue
      • At the age of twelve he went to the temple as required by law
      • He attended the Jewish ceremonies
      • He fasted/ prayed
      • Attended Passover feasts (7x1)
    3. State the rituals performed during the birth of a baby in African society.
      • There is feasting by family/relatives/friends

    1. Describe the incident when Jesus was rejected at Nazareth. Luke. 4: 16-30
      • On a Sabbath’ Jesus went to the synagogue in Nazareth his own village
      • He was given the scroll of prophet Isaiah to read
      • He opened the place where it was written the spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me to preach the good news
      • He has sent me to proclaim release to the captive and recovering of sight to the blind to set at liberty those who are oppressed to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord
      • Jesus told them that the scriptures had been fulfilled in their hearing
      • The people became hostile to Jesus after learning that He was claiming to be the Messiah
      • Jesus responded by telling them that a prophet is never accepted by his own people
      • He even told them that their forefathers also persecuted the prophets
      • The crowd tried to throw Him down a cliff but walked away from them (7x1)
    2. State the teaching of Jesus on the healing of Gerasene Demoniac
      • Jesus had power over evil
      • Jesus came to destroy Satan’s kingdom and establish God’s kingdom
      • In his mission Jesus faced challenges
      • His work was to liberate those oppressed by evil
      • He wanted his followers to witness for him about God’s salvation
      • Christians should seek Jesus for protection against evil
      • There is need to value human life through promoting different medical fields such as psychiatry
      • Jesus is the son of God (6x1)
    3. Identify six characteristics of a true follower of Jesus
      • One who spreads the gospel of Christ to all Nations
      • One who works among destitute
      • One who prays for God’s blessings upon all people
      • One who is a good example for others to emulate
      • One who speaks and condemns evil openly
      • One who provides guidance and counselling services
      • One who forgives others
      • One who accepts suffering as part of discipleship
      • One who denounces family ties for the sake of Christ

    1. Explain four areas of conflict between Jesus and the Jewish religious leaders in His Jerusalem ministry
      • The question about Jesus authority- the chief priest and scribes and elders asked Jesus on whose authority he taught. Jesus asked them whether John’s right to baptise was from heaven or earth
      • The parable of the tenants- a man planted a vineyard and let it out to tenants at harvest time he sent three of his servants one at a time but they were beaten by the tenants the son was killed
      • Paying taxes to Caesar- some spies asked Jesus whether it was lawful to pay taxes to Caesar. Jesus responded give Caesar what belongs to Caesar and God what belongs to God
      • The question on resurrection- the Sadducee wanted to know whose wife a woman who had been married seven brothers would be after resurrection
      • The question of the Messiah- Jesus wondered why the Pharisees, scribes and Sadducee did not know much about the Messiah yet they knew the scriptures
      • Jesus warns against the teachers of law- Jesus warned the disciples against hypocrisy of the teachers of law
      • The widows offering- the rich gave and spared from their riches. Jesus praised the widow for giving all she had (4x2=8)
    2. State how Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus.
      • Went to the chief priest to discuss the plans of handing over Jesus to them
      • Accepted to be paid money for the service
      • Looked for an opportune moment to hand over Jesus to the chief priest in absence of the crowed
      • Left the company of the disciples
      • Led the chief priest and temple guard to arrest Jesus
      • Identified Jesus with a kiss (6x1)
    3. Identify six ways in which the church continues with the healing ministry of Jesus
      • Christians pray and preach to the sick
      • They lay hands on the sick
      • They provide guidance and counselling services
      • They anoint them with oil
      • They construct hospitals, health centres and rehabilitation centres
      • They pay for medical expenses for the sick
      • They visit the sick in homes and hospitals to comfort them
      • They provide food ,clothing and financial assistance for the sick (6x1)

      • The unfaithful Christians are the unfaithful branches which are cut away
      • The faithful Christians are pruned so as to produce more fruits
      • Through Christ all Christians are joined to one another
      • Christians are united through Christ to God
      • Christians should rely on God for all providence
      • Love is passed on to the Christian from God through Christ (8x1)

    2. Explain biblical teachings on celibacy as an alternative to marriage.
      • It is a state of remaining unmarried for religious reasons
      • Celibacy is a vocation to serve God in a specific capacity other than being involved in marriage responsibilities
      • Both old and new testament different personalities chose celibate lives so as to serve God effectively
      • Some churches uphold this institution among the leaders example The Roman Catholic church
      • Christians who become celibate do so in obedience to Jesus’ command to its disciples to denounce family responsibility to emulate the example of Jesus
      • Those who choose a celibate life must be guided by High morals standards in sexual life otherwise they should marry
      • Celibacy is a covenant marked by vows before one is ordained to the vocation (7x1)
    3. Why are Christians opposed to child labour.
      • Affects the health of the child
      • Form of exploitation of the weak
      • Enhance the vicious cycle of poverty
      • May lead to physical abuse
      • Children may engage in deviant behaviour
      • May lead to school drop-outs
      • A sign of irresponsible parenthood
