- When God had created heaven and earth, the land was bare and without any life
- Mist went up and watered the ground
- God created man from the dust and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life
- God planted the garden of Eden and put man into it
- The garden was watered by four rivers; Tigris, Gihon, Pishon and Euphrates
- God planted trees including the tree of knowledge at the middle of the garden
- Man was permitted to eat the fruits of all the trees except from the tree of knowledge because if he ate from the tree of knowledge he would die
- God created animals and told man to name them
- He then created woman from man’s rib
- Man named her woman because she was part of his bones and flesh

- The first creation account includes firmaments, light, sun ,moon and stars which are not mentioned in the second creation account
- Planting of the garden of Eden is found in the second account but omitted in the first
- In the first account, man and woman were created same day but in the second account, woman was created later from man’s rib
- Creation in the first account was out of nothing. In the second creation account, God created man out of dust
- Human beings were created last in the first account but were created first in the second account
- Creation in the first account happened in six days and God rested on the seventh day. There is no mention of days in the second creation account
- In the first creation account, God created everything good. The second creation account does not mention of everything being good
- In the first creation account, marriage is for procreation while in the second account, marriage is for companionship
- There is the forbidden fruit in the second creation account but none in the first creation account
