  1. Many people migrated to towns to look for jobs leading to overcrowding
  2. Increased population in towns led to shortage of houses/development of slums
  3. Poor sanitation which made people to suffer from various diseases
  4. Factories emitted pollutants into the air, water & land thus affecting people’s health
  5. Those who did not secure employment in the towns engaged in crimes & other social evils
