      1. The Old Testament was first written in Hebrew.
      2. The Old Testament was translated from Hebrew to Greek language by the seventy Scholars/ Septuagint.
      3. The New Testament was written in Greek originally.
      4. The whole bible was translated in the Latin language by St. Jerome /Vulgate.
      5. The Bible was translated into German by Martin Luther.
      6. John Wyclife translated the Bible into English Language.
      7. New testament was translated into Kiswahili language by John Ludwig Krapft.
      8. Later the Bible was translated into local languages such as Kikuyu, Luhya, Iuo, Kamba etc. (7x1)

      1. Both are annual events.
      2. Both incidences are important historical events.
      3. Both involve sacrifice, lamb for Passover and Jesus for Christian Easter.
      4. In both there is acquiring of freedom after slavery.
      5. Both point towards God’s saving power.
      6. Both are central points to belief and worship for Judah and Christianity respectively.
      7. Both celebrations are spearheaded by a religious leader. (6x1)
    3. Why do some children disobey the fifth commandment today? (7marks)
      1. Due to peer influence.
      2. Permissiveness in the society.
      3. Urbanization which affects children negatively.

    1. What factors led to the division of the kingdom of Israel after the death of King Solomon? (7marks)
      1. The introduction of foreign gods by the wives of King Solomon.
      2. The building of high places of worship for foreign gods in Israel.
      3. Failure of King Rehoboam to keep the covenant with God not to worship foreign gods.
      4. Introduction of forcThe readiness of Jeroboam to lead rebellious tribes against Rehoboam.
      5. Jeroboam put two centres of worship at Dan and Bethel to rival Jerusalem.
      6. Jeroboam chose his own priests from ordinary families not from the family of levites in Judah. (Any 7x1)
    2. Narrate Naboth-Ahab vineyard story. (1Kings 21) (7marks)
      1. Naboth had a vineyard beside the palace of King Ahab in Jazreel.
      2. Ahab told Naboth to give him his vineyard to plant in vegetables.
      3. Ahab told Naboth to exchange the vineyard with his/ Give him the equal value for money.
      4. Naboth rejected this since the vineyard was his inheritance.
      5. Ahab returned to his house when so gloomy/ Saddened. Lying on his bed refusing to eat.
      6. His wife Jezebel enquired why he was sad. She assured him of getting the vineyard of Naboth.
      7. Jezebel wrote letters in Ahab’s name and sent them to the elders.
      8. The elders acted as the letter instructed them. The two witnesses were identified to bear false witness against Naboth.
      9. Naboth was accused of blasphemy. He was stoned to death and they sent the message to Jezebel.
      10. Ahab went and possessed the vineyard.
      11. God sent Elijah to proclaim punishment to Ahab.
      12. Ahab’s house was cursed.
      13. Jezebel was to be eaten by the dog. Ahab put on sack clothes and fasted.
      14. God softened his punishment toward Ahab.       (7x1)
    3. Outline six reasons why a leader may be rejected in the society today. (6marks)
      1. If the leader is immoral.
      2. Due to autocratic ruling/dictatorship.
      3. Due to misappropriation of public funds/corruption.
      4. When a leader fails to address his/her people’s problems.
      5. Lack of education/proper training for the leader.
      6. Due to practice of injustice/unfair treatment by the leader.
      7. Due to discrimination practice for his people.      (6x1)

    1. Describe the historical background of Prophet Amos (7marks)
      1. Amos came from a village called Tekoa in Judah/South Jerusalem.
      2. He was a shepherd who owned many sheep and goats.
      3. He grew sycamore trees.
      4. He prophesied during the reign of Jeroboam II and Uzziah.
      5. He was a native of Judah but he was sent to Israel.
      6. He prophesied between 160-750BC.
      7. He was also in charge of other shepherds. (7x1)
    2. Outline the teaching of Prophet Amos on Israel’s election. (7marks)
      1. Israelites election was God’s choice for the Israelites /they agreed to live a holy life according to the covenant.
      2. God made a covenant with the Israelites/They agreed to live a holy life according to the covenant.
      3. It was out of God’s initiative/favor for them.
      4. God delivered the Israelites out of bondage in Egypt.
      5. He led them during the Exodus.
      6. He protected them in the wilderness.
      7. He defeated all their enemies.

      1. Jeremiah was born in Anathoth near Jerusalem.
      2. He was the son of Hilkiah the priest.
      3. He received God’s call while still young.
      4. Jeremiahs’s call was in form of a dialogue with God.
      5. He led a lonely life/He did not marry/he was not allowed to attend any social gathering.
      6. He was rejected by people because of his prophetic mission.
      7. He suffered during his prophetic mission/he was imprisoned.
      8. He fled to Egypt for his refuge.       (7x1)
    2. Highlight the content of Jeremiah’s letter to the exiles. (Jeremiah 29.) (7marks)
      1. Israelites to build houses and settle.
      2. To plant gardens and eat their produce.
