In the figure below, ammonia gas and an acid gas diffuse and react to form a white deposit on the walls of a long glass tube as shown.

  1. Ammonia gas particles diffuse faster than acid gas particles.
  2. The smaller the size of particles and the smaller the mass, the faster the rate of diffusion. 
  3. It takes longer time because the kinetic energy of particles is reduced i.e particle move at a lower speed
