    1. Launder his long sleeved silk shirt ( 8 marks)
      • Collect all equipment and material required
      • Empty the pocket if any
      • Wash by kneading and squeezing in warm mild detergent water
      • Put the collar and cuffs flat on the palm of the hand and rub gently to remove dirt -Rinse thoroughly in warm water to remove dirt
      • Final rinse in cold water into which methylated spirit has been added to give a crispy and lustrous finish
      • Squeeze out excess water
      • Fold the shirt in a clean towel to squeeze out moisture
      • Iron/Press on the W.S using a moderately hot iron
      • To have a smooth gloss, iron fast.
      • Air to dry completely
      • Fold and store well
      • Clean all equipment and material used and store well

    2. Describe how you would clean his toilet for use ( 7 marks)
      • Collect all equipment and material to be used ½
      • Open windows ½
      • Flush ½ the toilet, pour cleaning powder or liquid soap ½ into which disinfectant ½ has been added into the basin and leave for a few minutes ½
      • Clean ½ the cistern, the toilet seat cover and toilet handle by wiping ½ with a clean cloth wrung out of warm ½ soapy ½ water
      • Rinse ½ with clean water into which disinfectant has been added and leave to dry -Use a toilet brush ½ to scrub ½ the inside of the bowl ½ to ensure all stains are removed - Flush ½ again to leave clean
      • Wash ½ hand basin if there
      • Mop ½ the floor, rinse ½ and dry ½
      • Ensure there is toilet paper ½
      • Clean all equipment and material used and store well ½

      • Rinse 1/2 in warm 1/2water
      • Wash 1/2 in warm 1/2 soapy 1/2water using a sponge 1/2

      • Drip dry 1/2 on a rack
      • Buff 1/2 using a glass 1/2 cloth

    1. Explain four factors to consider in the choice of colour scheme of a house. ( 8 marks) 
      • Effect desired - Choose colours based on one’s interest on how the room has to appear( increase size or reduce size of the room)
      • Use of the room -Base on the use of the room that will create the right mood e.g using warm colors in the living room to create warmth and restfulness
      • Orientation – Warm colours for houses facing North and South while cool colours for houses facing East and West
      • Existing décor : –Choose colours that harmonize well with the color of the furniture, soft furnishing etc
      • Effect of light: - The reflection of light affects the colours in the room
      • Personal taste : - Each individual love particular colors. Other people ought to appreciate. Any 4 points and 4 well explained reasons
    2. Mention four ways pastry can be kept cool during preparation. ( 4 marks) -Using flour that has been kept in cool dry place
      • Using fat kept in the refrigerator or a cool place
      • Using fresh water freshly drawn from the tap as it contains more air
      • Using finger tips for rubbing-in as they are the coolest parts of the hand
      • Using a spatula or pastry knife to mix as they are cooler than fingers
      • Rinsing hands in cold water before handling the pastry
      • Handling pastry as little as possible
      • Lifting and shaping the pastry with a rolling pin and a palette knife
      • Relaxing the pastry in a cool place between the rollings and the cooking

      • Sore nipples:
        • Breastfeeding more often starting by the side which is less sore
        • Relaxing before starting to breastfeed as this leads to easy flow of milk
        • Avoid pulling the baby from the breast . Instead release the baby by pressing down the chin
      • Breast engorgement:
        • Frequent breastfeeding
        • Squeezing the breast with warm wet clean cloth to relieve it
      • Breast abscess:
        • Seeking medical attention immediately
        • Baby refusal to breast feed because of thrush:
        • Take baby to hospital to a specialist
        • Inadequate milk supply: 
        • Frequent breastfeeding
        • Eat well.
