   • Home scientist provides knowledge on issues such as good nutrition to the community to keep its member healthy.
   • Educate community on issues such as consumer to be able to handle resources adequately
   • Fashion designers help create employment and sense of awareness on current fashion trends.
3. What safety measures should be considered when arranging furniture in the sitting room? (3mks)
   • Leave space for traffic
   • Arrange then an organized
   • Avoid overcrowding them
4. What is mackintosh? (2mks)

    • Colour – the Colour of good quality meat is blood red. Dark brown or black meat should not be chosen.
    • Tenderness – measure of toughness of meat should be considered in relation to the purpose for which the meat is meant for.
    • Odour. Meat with an offensive odour should be avoided

20. Your mother has travelled and left you in charge of the house. Describe how you would launder her;
    1. Silk scarf (8mks)
       • Check whether the scarf needs mending and mend accordingly then shake off any loose dirt.
       • Working on a well-ventilated place form naked flames pour an adequate amount of the dry cleaning solution in a small basin.
       • Immerse the scarf in the solution and very quickly knead and squeeze until its clean.
       • Squeeze out as much solution as possible
       • Hang the scarf in an airy place to dry.
       • Gently pour back the solution into the container as soon as the sediment settle at the bottom of the basin cover the container lightly and store it appropriately
       • Press on the WS using a warm iron when cleaning solution has evaporated
    2. Describe how you would clean a hurricane lamp she will use (12mks)
       • Protect the work surface with newspaper
       • Remove all movable parts
       • Clean the glass in warm soapy water handling it vey carefully
       • Rinse in cold water and leave to dry
       • Clean the burner rinse and dry
       • Clean the metal chimney inside and outside to remove all the soot
       • Clean the vent holes with special brush to open them.
       • Clean the rest of the lamp appropriately
       • Dry the whole lamp and polish up
       • Refill with oil
       • Trim the wick evenly
       • Reassemble all the parts

    4. Describe how to work a machine fell seam at the yoke of a poplin shirt    (8mks)
       • Place two pieces of material together edges matching
       • Pin, tack on the fitting line
       • Machine in the fitting line
       • Trim one side to less than 0.5cm
       • Trim the other side to 1.2cm
       • Press open
       • Fold over wider tuning to the shorter one and tack
       • Machine close to the fold
       • Remove tacking and press
