• You should have the following for this examination
• 4sheets of drawing paper size A3
• Drawing instruments
• This paper has one compulsory question
• The paper is to be issued to the candidates 30minutes before the examination time
• The candidates are advised to spend this time understanding the design problem and planning the work on one of the drawing papers provided
• Candidates should check the question paper to ascertain that both pages are printed and that no no question is missing
• Candidates should answer the questions in English 

DESIGN PROBLEM

Due to increase enrollment in secondary schools, there is need to use all available rooms in schools including drawing and design rooms

Design a drawing table that can be used as both reading table and drawing board.

Considerations

1. It should be easily moved from one position to another.
2. It should be adjustable to comfortable heights .
3. Should have a provision for storing drawing instruments and books.
4. The table top shoud have mechanism for tilting between 00 to 300 .

REQUIREMENTS

1. Make free-hand sketches of two possible solutions for your design. (6 marks)
2. Select one of the designs in (a) above and make a refined pictorial sketch.(13mks
3. Make detailed sketches of the mechanism to allow for each of the considerations
   1-4above     (16 marks)
4. List two materials to be used and state one reason for the choice of each. (2 marks)
5. State three methods of joining the parts and state a reason for the choice (3 marks)
