INSTRUCTIONS
- This paper consists of TWO alternatives; A and B. Each alternative has two questions.
- Choose only ONE question from any ONE alternative.
- In alternative A, choose either drawing or painting question.
- This question paper will be given to you one hour before the start of the exam to enable you make your choice from the alternatives. During this one hour you are allowed to make sketches on the A4 papers provided to help you decide on your choice.
- The use of rulers and other mechanical means is forbidden in alternative A but is allowed in alternative B
- Use of computers is NOT allowed in any of the alternatives
- In this paper the candidate is reminded that emphasis should be laid on quality of imagination rather than literal interpretation of the theme.
- At the end of the examination, pass your work and sketches to the supervisor without rolling or folding.
Answer only ONE question chosen from EITHER alternative A OR alternative B.
ALTERNATIVE A: DRAWING OR PAINTING
You are instructed that the use of rulers and other mechanical devices is forbidden in this alternative.
EITHER
- Using a pencil or pen and ink, produce a pictorial composition based on the description below
“Students scrambling to board the school van as their games coach look on in shock.”
The work should be done within an area of 45cm by 35cm
OR - In color, produce an imaginative composition based on the following description,
“A predator that is just about to pounce on its prey”
The work should be in a space of 45cm by 35cm
ALTERNATIVE B: GRAPHICS
You are instructed that the use of rulers and other mechanical devices (except computers) as well as tracing paper is allowed in this alternative.
The color of the working surface (paper) will not be considered as one of the colours required in any question.
EITHER
- A company that deals in production of snacks & soft drinks called FUNKIE SNACKS is in need of a well illustrated wall calendar.
In three colors design a wall calendar page for the month of December, the year 2021
Your work should be in a space of 23cm by 35cm
OR - The ministries of health in partnership with the ministry of education have embarked on a campaign to sensitize schools on COVID-19 safety measures.
In not more than three colors, design a well illustrated poster to be used in schools to create awareness on COVID-19 safety measures to be taken in order to curb the spread.
The work should be done within an area of 45cm by 35cm
