    • The contest was to determine which god was powerful by bringing down the fire.

    • Baal prophets were give the first chance.
    • They called and called baal,shouted and danced around the alter but baal did not answer
    • By midday,Elijah started mocking them asking them to pray harder but he did not answer.
    • Elijah turn came,where he repaired the altar,dug the trench around the alter and poured water.
    • When Elijah prayed to Yawheh ,the fire came from heaven and consumed the sacrifice.
