INSTRUCTIONS
- Answer all the questions.
A pattern of a girls skirt is provided. You are advised to study the sketches,instructions and layout carefully before you begin the test.
Material provided.
- Pattern pieces.
A – Skirt back
B - Skirt front
C – Pocket
D – Waist band - Plain light weight cotton fabric 55cm x 90cm wide.
- Sewing thread to match the fabric.
- One large envelop.
THE TEST
Using the materials provided cut out and make the RIGHT HALF of the skirt to show the following processes:
- Making of the back dart.
- Preparation of plants on the skirt front.
- Attachment of front pocket to the skirt and back pocket to the skirt back. Do not trim or neaten the seam.
- Making the side seam using an open seam. Neaten below the pocket only.
- Joining of the pocket seam. Do not neaten.
- Preparation of an interfaced waistband.
- Attachment of the waistband, slip-hem the back piece only.
- Making of the worked loop on the back waistband for a 1cm wide button.
At the end of the examination, family sew onto your work on a single fabric, a label bearing your name and admission number. Remove needles and place it in the envelope provided. Do not put scraps if fabric in the envelope.
